Shihan Brian Jooste

In March 2019, sensei Brian Jooste was awarded the title of ‘Shihan’ by Kancho Rony Kluger.

Shihan Brian started training karate at the age of 7 years old under Hansi Denis St.John Thomson in Cape Town.

At the age of 17 years, he was awarded shodan rank. Two years later, in 2003 he was awarded nidan, and then in 2006 he was awarded sandan rank.

In 2008, Shihan Brian joined Karate-do International, under Kancho Rony Kluger and was promoted to yondan in 2010, and godan (5th dan) in 2016 after a two-week training spell in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Shihan Brian has travelled and trained extensively around the world with visits to Switzerland, Hungary, Israel and Japan. He has lived in the Tel Aviv dojo many times for extended training spells and learned from top Israeli teachers. Shihan Brian also travels regularly to Durban and Johannesburg to teach at Karate-do International dojo’s in those cities.
